swarmtix_checkout_questions_update
Changes one of an event's checkout questions - wording, answer type, options, required and enabled
swarmtix_checkout_questions_update
Changes one of an event's checkout questions and returns it as it stands afterwards. Only the fields you give are changed.
When you would reach for it
- Fixing the wording of a question.
- Making a question optional, or required.
- Changing the choices of a dropdown, radio or checkbox question.
- Switching a question off and on again with
enabled.
Scope
events:write
It is idempotent: sending the same arguments twice leaves the same question, so a client may safely retry.
Parameters
| Name | Type | Required | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
event | string | Yes | - | The event's id (a GUID) or its URL slug. |
question | string | Yes | - | The id of the question, from swarmtix_checkout_questions_list. |
text | string | No | keeps current | New wording. Up to 300 characters. |
answerType | string | No | keeps current | A new kind of answer, as in swarmtix_checkout_questions_create. |
options | string[] | No | keeps current | The new choices for a list question: 2 to 50 distinct entries of up to 200 characters. |
required | boolean | No | keeps current | Whether the buyer must answer. |
enabled | boolean | No | keeps current | Whether the question is asked at all. |
showOnTicket | boolean | No | keeps current | Whether the answer is printed on the ticket. |
The rules
- A standard Swarmtix question (one the product adds itself, such as the buyer's name) accepts only
requiredandenabled. - The answer type cannot change once buyers have answered the question.
- Giving
optionsreplaces the choices. The first ones keep their ids, and any beyond the new list are removed.
Editing the options after buyers have answered is safe. An answer is stored as the text the buyer chose, so changing or removing a choice does not change an old answer.
Example call
{
"name": "swarmtix_checkout_questions_update",
"arguments": {
"event": "spring-summit-2027",
"question": "d0b62f47-5a19-4e83-91cd-7f3a2c6b58e0",
"required": false
}
}What comes back
The question as stored, in the same shape as swarmtix_checkout_questions_create returns: id, eventId, question, field, answerType, options (each with an id and a value), enabled, required and showOnTicket.
Troubleshooting
"answerType is not valid: ..."
Buyers have already answered this question, or it is a standard question, so its type is fixed.
"options is not valid: ..."
A list question needs 2 to 50 distinct choices. The other kinds take none.
"question is not valid: there is no question with that id on this event."
The id is wrong, belongs to another event, or the question was removed with swarmtix_checkout_questions_delete. A removed question cannot be changed.
Use cases
- Making a question optional after buyers complain
- Adding a choice to a dropdown
- Turning a question off for one event
