swarmtix_speakers_create

Adds a speaker, with an optional photo, to an online event

swarmtix_speakers_create

Creates a speaker on an online event and returns it. The speaker belongs to this event only.

When you would reach for it

Scope

events:write

The connection's user must be allowed to edit the event, and the event must be an online event.

It is not idempotent: each call creates a new speaker, even when the name is the same.

This tool can fetch an image from a URL you give it, so it is the one speaker tool marked openWorldHint: true, like swarmtix_event_images_set.

Example call

{
  "name": "swarmtix_speakers_create",
  "arguments": {
    "event": "spring-summit-online",
    "firstName": "Ana",
    "lastName": "Petrova",
    "email": "[email protected]",
    "company": "Acme",
    "jobTitle": "Engineer"
  }
}

What comes back

The new speaker: id, firstName, lastName, company, jobTitle and photo. The email is not returned.

What happens when you call it

  1. The event is resolved through the edit gate and must be an online event.
  2. Text is cleaned and the email is checked.
  3. A photo is fetched or decoded and prepared with the same image pipeline as swarmtix_event_images_set, then stored. A bad photo stops the call before anything is written.
  4. The speaker gets a unique URL slug of at most 30 characters and is linked to the event.

Troubleshooting

"Event not found, or this connection does not have access to it."

The event does not exist, it belongs to another organisation, or this organizer may read it but not edit it.

"This event is not an online event. Talks, speakers, categories and hosts belong to online events only. Nothing was changed."

The event is a physical event. These tools only work on events created with kind: "online".

A photo error

The photo could not be fetched or decoded. An https URL is fetched through a guarded client (port 443 only, no redirects, 10 seconds, 10 MB), and every fetch failure gives the same sentence on purpose.
