swarmtix_talks_create
Adds a talk, with speakers, categories and a video, to an online event
swarmtix_talks_create
Creates a talk on an online event and returns it. The earliest active talk sets the start of the event.
When you would reach for it
- Building the schedule of an online event.
- Clearing the
NoTalksblocker thatswarmtix_event_readinessreports.
Scope
events:write
The connection's user must be allowed to edit the event, and the event must be an online event.
It is not idempotent: each call creates a new talk. The event needs a timezone, set with swarmtix_events_update.
Times are UTC. The tool stores the UTC value to the minute and shows the local time back to you in startsAtLocal.

Example call
{
"name": "swarmtix_talks_create",
"arguments": {
"event": "spring-summit-online",
"title": "Opening keynote",
"startsAt": "2030-06-01T16:00:00Z",
"durationMinutes": 45,
"speakerIds": ["a41c0000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000"],
"videoType": "prerecorded",
"videoProvider": "youtube",
"videoUrl": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=example"
}
}What comes back
The talk as stored: id, title, startsAt (UTC), startsAtLocal (in the event's timezone), durationMinutes, active, speakerIds, categoryIds and video. The video url is left out for any Zoom video.
What happens when you call it
- The event is resolved through the edit gate and must be an online event with a timezone.
- Every argument is checked. Speaker and category ids must already be on this event.
- The talk, its speaker and category links and its video settings are saved together.
- The event's start follows the earliest active talk. The start of the event's earliest date is set to it in the same save. A date is inserted only when the event has none, like the dashboard.
Troubleshooting
"Event not found, or this connection does not have access to it."
The event does not exist, it belongs to another organisation, or this organizer may read it but not edit it.
"This event is not an online event. Talks, speakers, categories and hosts belong to online events only. Nothing was changed."
The event is a physical event. These tools only work on events created with kind: "online".
"event is not valid: it has no timezone, so a talk's time cannot be placed."
Set one first with swarmtix_events_update.
A provider or video error
videoType, videoProvider and videoUrl must be given together, and a replay needs a video. The message lists the providers that are allowed. Zoom live sessions are set up in the Swarmtix dashboard, not here.
Use cases
- Scheduling a conference from an agenda
